About the Historic Northwest
Welcome to the Historic Northwest District, a vibrant community located just north of downtown West Palm Beach. Spanning from Banyan Boulevard to Palm Beach Lakes and from Tamarind Avenue to Rosemary Avenue, this area is rich in history and cultural heritage, proudly designated as a historic zone.
Our neighborhood is primarily residential, surrounded by key commercial corridors—Rosemary and Tamarind Streets. Exciting developments are underway, including the restoration of the iconic Sunset Lounge at 8th Street and Henrietta, the Styx Promenade on 7th Street, and the Heart and Soul Jazz Park at 825 N. Rosemary Avenue, all of which are set to enhance our community’s appeal.
The Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is dedicated to revitalizing the Historic Northwest District, with the goal of transforming it into a thriving cultural hub for West Palm Beach. By investing in infrastructure upgrades, enhancing safety and cleanliness, removing blight, and supporting local businesses, the CRA aims to foster a vibrant community where landmarks like the Sunset Lounge, Tamarind Avenue, Rosemary, the Styx Promenade, and Heart & Soul Park become central to the area’s cultural and economic growth.

History
BBQ, Brews & Blues was created by the West Palm Beach CRA and community members to provide a platform for businesses, stakeholders, and residents of the Historic Northwest District. What began as a small gathering of BBQ pitmasters and local bands has grown into one of the area’s most highly anticipated events. Over the years, the festival has evolved into a vibrant celebration, bringing together thousands of attendees to foster connections, support local businesses, and showcase the rich culture of the Historic Northwest. Today, BBQ, Brews & Blues stands as a cornerstone of community engagement and growth.
